Originally published in 1848 as a political pamphlet, The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels would become one of the most influential works of the era. Written as a summary of the authors’ political thought, the Manifesto is also a reflection of the unrest and the revolutions of the time.
The Manifesto analyzes the struggle due to social inequality and the problems presented by a capitalist society. This work also speculates on the limited future of a totally capitalist driven economy, predicting that eventually the world would turn to socialism.
By 1860, The Manifesto had fallen into obscurity and was not as important as it once was but that would change in the latter part of the nineteenth-century when Karl Marx grew more influential in socialist circles. Russia became the world’s first socialist state with the Manifesto being its primary outline for the new social order.

This was the wrong book for me, but maybe it will be better for you: I was expecting more of a much more clear cut guide on how exactly to overthrow the current regime in order to create a utopian society in which class no longer exists. He does a great job of providing a lot of examples where other versions of communism are wrong and flawed, and why, but never really gives a decent tutorial on how to pragmatically instantiate marxism.. I almost got the feeling like the substrate of reality was such that you can never eliminate the "bourgeoisie snakes from within", perhaps that alluded to the idea that layering a Marxist structure on top of reality means that reality will always poke through, even after it has suffocated and starved enough?? I followed the author on Kindle, we'll see if he publishes a vol. 2 sometime soon!Product details

Very disappointing that I have to buy this product. Marxs would be very upset.
Nothing much has changed since the early Nineteenth Century.
Quick read with compelling, progressive logic that's based on centuries of historical events and other facts. Not for people who believe that their fate is in God's hands, that helplessness is a "safe" strategy, or who are comfortable with people telling them what to do. Or, maybe the perfect thing for them.
The MacMillan Collector’s Library edition of Karl Marx’s “The Communist Manifesto” includes the 1888 Samuel Moore translation of “The Communist Manifesto,” “Wages, Price, and Profit” from 1898, and Samuel Moore and Edward Aveling’s 1887 translation of “Capital.” Hugh Griffith’s introduction offers biographical information about Marx and puts his work into its historical context, particularly after the apparent “victory” of capitalism over communism at the end of the Cold War, with Griffith arguing that, contrary to popular opinion, Marx remains as prescient as ever in light of the economies of post-industrial society. This edition reprints all three texts in their entirety and fully articulates Marx’s ideas of class and wage warfare. Ironically, this edition makes a nice gift with its portable size, gilt edges, and classic dust jacket art.
Well, this literature has opened my eyes a bit toward Communists. I still am not a Communist if that's what you are wondering.
If politics, economy or life in general interest you - this is a must.
Got my copy and pages 9 through 40 are inverted and upside down. The entire book is goofed up because of this. I'm not pleased.
It's very light, which is great if you're packing it around. A very quick read, but I suspect that some readers may want the font to be larger. However, given the super low price, it was high quality.
